I'm not really sure what has gotten into me, but I baked bread the other day. Finnish Sweet Cardamom Raisin Bread, to be more precise. Now don't go getting the wrong idea. I do not, repeat DO NOT, normally bake bread for the family. Criminy....it takes the whole day. And this recipe was not exactly easy. There were multiple proofings (is that a word?) and kneading, of course, but there was also dividing of the dough and braiding, yes braiding, and finally an egg wash applied to the pretty puffy tops of the loaves right before they were baked. My oh my, that bread was tasty straight from the oven slathered with salted butter.
