Yes, I know. I see everything months, years, decades after all of you. But I finally saw this movie the other night, and all I can say is love, love and EVEN MORE LOVE. Woody Allen has always been near and dear to my heart -- one of my all-time favorites -- but the fact that he can still put out something fresh, modern and exciting at the age of what... 73? Impressive. Get the movie if you haven't seen it. Netflix has it.
I can't wait to see it, and am glad to hear you loved it. I was pleased as punch to see Ms. Cruz win her award last night. She looked so beautiful too.

i just recently saw this with my two best friends and felt the same way. everything about the film - the acting, the brunette's hair, the dining late at night outdoors, the music...ahhh.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this film. Penelope is just perfection and it wasn't until I saw her in this film that I understood just how talented she truly is. She SO deserved her Oscar. And even though Scarlett irks me beyond belief, I have to say that the fact that Penelope outshines her here makes seeing her a little easier to bear.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Rebecca Hall and Javier Bardem were fantastic.
I will never forgive myself for not sneaking off to the theater to see this. But I will rent it one of these days. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI should be getting it tomorrow from Netflix. I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeletelove this film, love almost every woody allen film ever made. huge fan... in fact i've been hoping itunes would offer more of his things. been aching to see 'everyone says i love you' for months now. just an itch. i loved penelope in vicki but also fell head over for the 'new' girl Rebecca Hall.
ReplyDeleteit was an excellent film. one of woody's best in a while in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteGil and I recently saw this too and we now want to move to Barcelona, pronto. Love the 3 hour wine soaked lunches ...
ReplyDeleteSitting at the top of our Netflix queue. Perhaps we will see it some time in early 2010? I would be willing to bet that we are bigger movie losers than you and we don't even have kids for an excuse.
ReplyDeleteBut i do want to see this movie. i do.
I just discovered your blog...I'm in love! No, seriously, it's lovely and I relate to so many of your interests! I have an 8-month old baby and I haven't been to a movie theater in more than a year but Vicki is THE movie I want to see NOW!! I just need to plan well in advance...I know it will happen sometime...this year...
ReplyDeleteI just watched it this week too! I agree...LOVED it. Seriously...the way Woody Allen got into the heads of Vicki and Cristina...you would have thought it was a woman writing the script.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED this movie when I saw it. Especially the music!!!! It just makes me feel good every time I hear it =)
