B and I are not huge Valentine's Day people, but I do like to take any opportunity to spoil him a bit with food. We are all recovering from some sort of stomach flu virus crazy horribleness around here, so I'm not sure what we will actually do tomorrow. But if I had my way, I would make him:
My Signature Old-School Gin Martini (gets him every time!!)
Stuffed Mushrooms
Steaks au Poivre (New York for him, Rib Eye for me)
Chocolate Lava Cakes
What do you like to cook for your lover?

coq au vin. my husband's favorite.
ReplyDeleteOkay, thank you for posting this since I did absolutely zilch for my husband last V-Day (we had a 3 month old - is that an excuse?) and still haven't come up with anything for this year. This menu looks like a man-pleaser, and I intend to replicate it in its entirety. Plus shrimp cocktail. Because that's what I want. :) Hope you all feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI like to cook up a nice outfit to wear so that when he tells me dinner is ready I can come down looking all slinky. I hope he makes what you're making. Happy Love Day! Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI am making his favorite roast chicken with roasted vegetables and lemons, arugula salad with grape tomatoes, quinoa and for dessert......me!Happy love day.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious! What recipe do you use for the stuffed mushrooms?
ReplyDeletePerfection!
ReplyDeleteThis year I am making a Tarragon Shrimp Scampi (an old Martha Stewart recipe) with angel hair pasta and roasted asparagus. I'll probably put together a quick salad, but just pick up something for dessert. Sending you good thoughts to feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious!! We are eating steak, potato, salad and red velvet cake!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a Diabetic. I cook for him EVERY MEAL - and a good and proper meal at that. NO PAULA DEEN motto for us! Moderation means NOTHING when it comes to carbs and diabetes - do not listen to her rubbish she is spewing!! So we decided to have a proper lunch out for the occasion. Tonight I'm cooking up a good fish meal. YUM!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to read your blog again. This sounds like a perfect V-Day!
ReplyDeleteI wanna try one of your signature martinis! :) We're having rolled tacos tonight, but last year I made James Beef Wellington with Blood Orange Upside Down Cake for dessert. Guess it didn't make much of an impression though, because earlier today he told me he couldn't remember it!
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy! How about sharing your recipe for chocolate lava cakes!
ReplyDeleteHad the best plans for milk braised pork shoulder (my man lives his pork), smashed potatoes and sauteed greens but I came down with that same flu on V Day! Just now returning to the living. So the pork is in the freezer for another day ...
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!
ReplyDeleteyum! I love all of that!
