The Tangerines Have Arrived.

November 12, 2009

We've been waiting for these to ripen for months now. They are still a little tart for me, but the kids can't keep their hands off them.
We spent the better part of the afternoon out by the tree, the kids taking turns picking, peeling and eating. Something tells me there won't be many left by the end of December (even though the tree is loaded this year).

  1. I love this. How luck you are to walk out and have access to all that amazing fruit!

I live in the Pacific Northwest and have four citrus but they are still babies - each only have 1-2 fruits on them so far! I would like to think that one day they will be as big as your tangerine, but given our climate I think I am just dreaming :) Living vicariously through you in the meantime!

  5. Wow, I thought it was great that the Satsuma mandarins have arrived at Trader Joe's. To have tangerines literally growing on a tree in one's own backyard--what could be better?

  8. Oh, to live somewhere where citrus fruit grows in your backyard! Not happening in Colorful Colorado, although we do have peaches and apples that are tasty:o)

  9. That first photo is fantastic! My citrus trees look like babies compared to yours. My children would have a hey day at your house!

  10. I've got to get one of those trees. I buy my boys Cuties and they can't get enough of them. I find the peels all over the house.
